(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he left the scene of an accident on Thursday night at State Road 37 and John Williams Boulevard.
Lawrence County police arrested 35-year-old Timothy Collins of Bedford on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Bedford Police charged Collins with leaving the scene of an accident.
According to a Bedford Police Department, the accident happened at 8:22 p.m.
Bedford Police say Collins was following too closely and failed to stop at the intersection of State Road 37 and John Williams Boulevard. Collins rear-ended a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 45-year-old Tammy Brazzell of Mitchell which caused Brazzell to rear-end a 2005 Saturn Relay driven by 26-year-old Matthew Hudson of Bedford.
Brazzell told police she was stopped at the stop light when she was hit in the rear by a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Collins. That caused her car to be pushed into Hudson's vehicle.
Hudson told police he was stopped at the light when his vehicle was struck in the rear by Bazzell's car. He was not injured.
Collins then fled the scene.
Brazzell was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were not listed on the police report.
Hudson was issued a citation for not having insurance.
