(CAMPBELLSBURG) - Campbellsburg Town Marshal Claude Combs and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department are investigating more incidents of counterfeit money.
A counterfeit $20 bill was used on Sept. 11th at K&E Market and again on Sept. 14th someone passed a counterfeit $10 bill at the store.
Chief Deputy Brent Miller has been working with the Secret Service on the two incidents and discovered that the counterfeit $10 bill has been passed at least 10 other times in two other states. The serial number on the counterfeit $20 bill had no record of being used anywhere other than K&E.
All local and area businesses are reminded to observe for counterfeit money and to report any attempt to pass counterfeit currency to local law enforcement agency.
