(BLOOMINGTON) - Personal pizza, made fresh and in a zip - that’s what Azzip Pizza brings to Bloomington as it opens to the public today.
General Manager of the Bloomington location, Ty Elpers said, "The name really comes from them fumbling around a bunch of ridiculous names. Brad [owner] wanted it to be unique and he also wanted it to describe what our pizza was like..."
Brad's mom suggested pizza spelled backwards to represent their quick, fresh pizza pie.
It takes about two and a half minutes for one personal pizza.
Forget arguing about pizza toppings, Azzip Pizza is different from the average pizza joint as it offers personal pizzas that can be customized with their fresh ingredients.
There are two pizza sizes- the "Little Zip" that measures eight inches and the "Big Zip" that is eleven inches.
Heidi Musser, the media representative for Azzip Pizza, mentioned a mother and her kids that go to an Azzip Pizza location in Evansville every Thursday. "She can get a pizza under 500 calories, while her kids can get whatever they want," said Musser.
On the list of ingredients to choose from is gluten-free crust and dairy-less cheese. Musser said employees will be sure to ask if the request for the either of the two items stems from an allergy and then sanitize the equipment.
Azzip Pizza offers draft and bottled beer along with their personal pizzas. The beer list includes beer from Bloomington's very own, Upland among other brands.
