Bedford Man Arrested After Choking Woman

Last updated on Monday, October 23, 2017

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he placed his hands around a woman’s neck and strangled her till she couldn’t breathe.

Bedford Police officers were called to a home in the 610 block of Fourth Street at 4:21 a.m. Saturday after a woman called saying she had been battered by a male and he was swinging an ax.

When police arrived the woman was visibly upset and told police that 38-year-old Jeremy Giddens had placed his hands around her neck and squeezed, cutting off her airway.

"She was finally able to get him to stop," says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "The woman said she had went outside to speak to Mr. Giddeons who was talking to another male and the two got into an argument and that is when he put both hands around her neck, chocking her until she almost passed out. She then claims he began swinging an ax and was attempting to leave."

When police arrived Giddeons was still at the home and was arrested without incident on charges of domestic battery and strangulation.
