(BEDFORD) - Disney’s magic is coming to Bedford Wednesday, October 25 at 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. thanks to local business, Magical Vacation Planner and their sponsors: Lehigh, Bedford Ford Lincoln Chrysler, City of Bedford, City of Mitchell and Walt Disney World.
That magic is former Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World® Resort, Lee Cockerell.
Magical Vacation Planner CEO, Jamie Eubanks, organized the event and personally asked Lee Cockerell to make a special trip to Bedford and even to the students at BNL.
Cockerell led a team of 40,000 cast members and was in charge of 20 resort hotels, four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping and entertainment village and the ESPN Sports and Recreation complex in addition to the ancillary operations that supported Disney. He is one of the world's best teachers on customer service. After spending more than 40 years in the hospitality industry developing skills and learning lessons in leadership, Lee Cockerell will share his thoughts and experiences on creating magic.
Cockerell's most lasting legacies from his life time at Disney was the creation of Disney Great Leader Strategies that was created and used to train the seven thousand leaders at Walt Disney World today.
"It's very important to JJ (President of Magical Vacation Planner) and I that kids are exposed to the possibilities to education. There's so many opportunities out there. Some time we just get blinders that this is it. And I love the town of Mitchell and I love to know what's out there as well," said Eubanks.
Eubanks started MVP ten years ago as the only travel agent. Now she has grown the company into Disney's number one store front agency and has 650 travel agents around the country.
Mitchell juniors and seniors will also be able to attend the event.
Eubanks believes that all attendees will benefit greatly from the event as she uses Lee's principles in her own company.
"I think he can make our cities look at things in a different way..." said Eubanks.
The event is scheduled for Wed, October 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bedford North Lawrence PAC.
