(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was arrested after she struck a skateboarder at the State Road 46 Bypass north of Eastgate Lane, Sunday morning.
According to a Bloomington police report, A person walking in the area heard the crash, went back to help the 18-year-old male victim and called 911.
The injured teen told police he had left a party and was riding his skateboard on the highway, in the western lane of northbound State Road 46, when he was hit by a car. The male was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and then to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
The driver of the 1998 Toyota Camry, 22-year-old Riley Huang, told police she was coming home from work at an eastside bar when she struck the victim.
Police say Huang failed field sobriety testing and a breath alcohol test.
Huang was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury with endangerment.
