(SEYMOUR) - A Jennings County man was arrested after a high-speed chase that began and ended on Seymour’s east side.
Seymour Police arrested 36-year-old Benjamin Scott Tipton of Scipio on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle while causing a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person, criminal recklessness and reckless driving.
Tipton was arrested after Seymour Officer Ben Miller attempted to stop Tipton for multiple driving infractions at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday in the area Tipton and Broadway streets.
Tipton failed to stop and accelerated fleeing eastbound on Tipton Street. Speeds exceeded more than 100 mile per hour eastbound out of Seymour and into Jennings County. The pursuit continued and eventually returned to Jackson County.
Police were able to stop Tipton after stop sticks were placed near Tipton Street and U.S. 31, which deflated Tipton's vehicles tires and slowed the speed of the pursuit.
Police continued to pursuit Tipton until his vehicle stopped at Marley Lane where police arrested him without incident. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail where he is being held without bond pending his initial hearing.
