(NEEDMORE) - A Needmore man was arrested Wednesday after police say he threatened family members with a hatchet.
Police arrested 30-year-old Tyler Ritchison on charges of battery with a deadly weapon, invasion of privacy and a warrant for petition to revoke probation.
According to a Lawrence County Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, officers were called to the 1400 block of North Pike Road on Sept. 28 on a report of a domestic dispute. The family had an active protective order against Ritchison at the time of the incident.
When police arrived a man and woman told police Ritchison had came "flying" into their driveway and began yelling at his family members.
The man told Ritchison to leave, but he refused. Ritchison then picked up a hatchet from the yard and came at them swinging it.
The man told police he got into a scuffle with Ritchison ending on the ground and the man taking the hatchet from Ritchison. The man then ordered Ritchison off his property. The man says Ritchison grabbed a can of diesel fuel and then left in his truck.
