(BLOOMFIELD) - The Greene County Commissioners will be asked to apply to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a Community Development Block Grant for a fire station construction and other possible future projects for the Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department if the area qualifies.
A door-to- door income survey will be conducted throughout Richland Township excluding the Town of Bloomfield. The Department and the Southern Indiana Development Commission are working together to gather information needed to apply for the grant funds for the proposed project. The income survey is necessary to determine if the area will be eligible for the grant funds.
The survey will be undertaken from October 16, 2017 through November 30, 2017 with follow up surveys being completed as necessary. The Department is asking residents within the fire protection area to assist with the survey process. Obtaining these grants will not be possible without the cooperation and assistance of the residents. The grant is necessary in order to provide financial assistance needed by the Department for the proposed project. Your participation is needed and will be greatly appreciated. This survey will be kept confidential, as names and addresses of the residents will not be placed on the survey forms. The department members conducting the survey's will be easily identifiable as they will be utilizing Fire Department vehicles as well as have proper fire department identification while conducting the door-to- door contact with area residents.
Anyone with questions about this survey should contact John Sherer (812) 318-7489, or the Southern Indiana Development Commission at (812) 295-3707.
