(UNDATED) - State health officials are urging Hoosiers to get their flu shots before peak flu season starts in January.
According to reports from the Indiana State Department of Health, 103 people died from influenza between October 2016 and May of this year.
According to the Indiana State Health Department's Weekly Influenza Report, 64 Indiana residents experienced influenza-like illnesses during the second week of November.
Health officials say anyone over six months old should get a flu shot every year to increase their chances of preventing the flu.
Flu shots take at least two weeks to become effective.
