(BEDFORD) - A man was found dead in his vehicle in the 3800 block of Tunnelton Road on Saturday morning.
According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called by the home owner at 5:47 a.m. after a report of a suspicious white Pontiac Grand Am parked in their driveway with an unresponsive person inside the vehicle.
When police arrived they found someone had attempted to change a damaged tire on the vehicle. Police also found damage to the front passenger side.
Inside police found a 24-year-old male dead in the driver's seat of the vehicle.
"Preliminary investigation shows that the male died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot," Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults added.
Officers did locate damage to a utility pole and concrete culvert in the 3700 block of Tunnelton Road and believe for some unknown reason the man had run off the road there and then stopped to fix the damaged tire.
"At this time a Detective has been assigned to the case and is following up information," Chief Deputy Shoults added. "There will be no other information released until this report is complete."
