(BEDFORD) - A man who was shot Sunday scared the resident in an apartment on M Street.
According to Assistant Chief Joe DeWees, officers were called to the apartment in the 2400 block of M Street around 4:30 a.m. after the shooter called police saying he had shot a man who was at his back door.
A resident in the 2400 block of M Street dialed 911 to reported to Lawrence County Police dispatch a male in a mask scared him at his back door and he shot him. The caller says the male in the mask was pulling a prank and he didn't mean to shoot him.
The shooter told Bedford police he retrieved a firearm and when he checked the backdoor, saw the man who surprised and frightened him. He then fired the weapon shooting the man in the head.
The man was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment.
