(SPRINGVILLE) - Two people suffered minor injuries in an accident on State Road 54, near Harry Corya Lane on Saturday.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 62-year-old Phyllis Eads of Bloomington was traveling west on State Road 54 and learning how to drive a stick shift 1996 Ford F-150 while pulling a trailer.
Eads told police she was attempting to shift and looked down at the gear shift causing the vehicle and trailer to veer off the highway. Eads told police she attempted to correct, but couldn't get the vehicle and trailer back onto the roadway.
The truck struck a utility pole, snapping it in two, then proceeded to go through a fence and coming to a stop in a field.
Phyllis Eads complained of leg pain and had minor bleeding. Her passenger 63-year-old Dennis Eads, also of Bloomington, complained of head pain. Both refused medical attention at the scene but were transported by private vehicle to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
