(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police Officer Drew Lemke has been named the 2017 Officer of the Year.
Major Robert Herr says Lemke's performance on the job has been noteworthy.
"Drew is a true servant and real go-getter," Herr wrote in a Facebook post. "He consistently demonstrates a positive attitude with the public and seeks to assist other officers. While he is a younger officer on the department, officer Lemke's grasp of the dynamics of the job are noteworthy. I have been fortunate to have a fantastic crew this year and look forward to another good year in 2018."
Lemke was employed as a dispatcher for the department before becoming an an officer in March of 2016.
