(OOLITIC) - The former Oolitic High School is up for sale. The school was left empty after the seven county schools consolidated in 1975.
The Oolitic Town Council says they can no longer afford to keep the building citing high utility bills and future repair costs. Jessica Staggs, Oolitic clerk-treasurer told the Times-Mail the heating bill can run $400 a month.
A legal ad that ran in Times-Mail newspaper in September advertised the three-story building for sale with a minimum bid of $50,000, but after not receiving any bids they dropped the price to $40,000.
Bids will be accepted until noon Dec. 28 at Oolitic Town Hall on Main Street.
