(LOST RIVER TOWNSHIP) - A Lost River Township saturation patrol resulted in the arrest of a French Lick man.
During the early morning hours Thursday, Martin County Sheriff Travis Roush and Martin County Deputies Tyler Reed and John Wright conducted a saturation patrol in Lost River Township.
At 12:55 a.m., Deputy Reed saw a vehicle commit a moving violation near the intersection of Emmons Ridge Road and Hillham Road. Deputy Reed conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 31-year-old Robert "Bobby" G. Roach II.
Sheriff Roush and Deputy Wright arrived, shortly thereafter, to assist.
Deputy Reed utilized his narcotics-certified K9 Virka for a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Virka, who gave a positive indication at the front driver's side door for the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found a pill bottle containing a white residue. The residue field tested positive for meth. A hand-rolled cigarette was also located which contained a green leafy plant-like substance that field tested positive for marijuana.
Roach was arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail. During the book-in process, a jailer found Roach had on his person a cellophane wrapper which contained meth.
Roach is facing charges of possession of meth, trafficking with an inmate, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance
