(LINTON) - Indiana Conservation officers recovered the body of 85-year-old Robert Waters in Richards Lake Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday officers found evidence of a vehicle entering the lake at 50 South and 1500 West in Linton.
Conservation officers utilized Side Scan Sonar and SCUBA divers to determine a vehicle was in fact in the water. The search ended at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday night and resumed early Tuesday morning.
Due to the rocky underwater high wall and the vehicle at a depth of 55 feet, the extraction was dangerous and technical in nature.
District 8 ICO's aided divers from Districts 5 and 7 by mobilizing their Remotely Operated Vehicle to pinpoint the location and report on the vehicle's stability on the rock wall.
At approximately 3 p.m. a recovery was made.
The body of Mr. Waters was recovered by ICO divers.
Waters had been the subject of a Silver Alert that was issued on Friday, December 15th.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Other Agencies on the scene included the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Dugger Police Department, Greene County Coroner, UDWI REMC, and Ken's Westside Wrecker Service.
