(SEYMOUR) - A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday after he wrecked his vehicle injuring his son.
Seymour Police arrested Bonifilio Jimenez, of Seymour, if facing charges of neglect of a dependent, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, criminal recklessness and operating a vehicle while never licensed related to a wreck Friday, north of Seymour, that left his son hospitalized in an Indianapolis hospital with abdominal injuries.
Police say Jimenez was northbound on State Road 11, north of Redding Road when he drove his 2007 Toyota Yaris off of the east side of the road and down an embankment before hitting a concrete abutment. The vehicle then went over the embankment and landed right side up in a ditch.
Jimenez's 3-year-old son was treated at the scene by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel before being taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. The child was then taken to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health with abdominal injuries he sustained because he was not restrained properly in the back seat of the vehicle.
Jimenez, who was being held without bond at the jail in Brownstown, was treated at the scene for a possible head injury and taken to Schneck Medical Center.
