(SEYMOUR) - A Jennings County man who abandoned his car early Saturday morning on the CSX tracks east of Seymour has been arrested, police report.
Logan W. Hendren, 21, of North Vernon faces charges of railroad mischief, a Level 6 felony, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a Class B misdemeanor, according to a report from Jackson County Officer Scott Davis.
Davis said police were able to determine Hendren was coming home from a party when he got lost in the 6000 block of North County Road 1300E where its dead ends at the railroad tracks.
The 2012 Ford Fusion Hendren was driving got stuck in gravel on railroad after he turned onto the tracks because he thought it was a road, Davis said.
Hendren left the vehicle along the tracks, and it was discovered by a nearby homeowner Saturday morning, Davis said.
The tracks had to be closed until the vehicle was removed, he said.
Police also learned Hendren had struck a mailbox with the mirror of his car before driving onto the tracks and that alcohol likely played a role in the incident, Davis said.
Hendren was booked into the Jackson County Jail at 12:54 p.m. Saturday and was being held without bond pending his initial hearing.
