(DUDLEYTOWN) - A Jackson County man was shot during a family dispute in the 2500 block of South County Road 750 East in Dudleytown on Friday night.
According to a Jackson County Police report, officers were called to the home of 79-year-old Roy Clarkson after a 911 call at 8:38 p.m. reporting a family fight.
When police arrived they found one person outside of the home and secured a weapon.
A 48-year-old man was injured Friday night after a gun went off during what police believe was a family fight.
Two more people were inside including 48-year-old John Newhouse, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his right ear.
Newhouse lives in the home with his wife, 53-year-old Debra Newhouse, who is Clarkson's daughter.
Newhouse was treated at the scene by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services but refused to be transported to the hospital.
No one else was injured during the family fight.
Police seized a 38-caliber revolver and ammunition.
Police says the incident is still under investigation and have not released why one round was fired during the dispute.
They did say drugs and alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
Once the investigation is complete, the report will be forward to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office for review.
