(PEKIN) - A man was arrested after the stole an ambulance from Clark Memorial Hospital on Christmas Day.
Officials say the ambulance was taken shortly before noon.
Police say 28-year-old Joseph Prest of Borden took off and led police into Washington County, where eventually they he was taken into custody near Voyles Road in Pekin.
The stolen ambulance was spotted by an off-duty Jeffersonville Police officer in Sellersburg. He alerted dispatch and a couple of agencies including the Clark County Sheriff and the Washington County Sheriff helped in a short pursuit of the ambulance.
The pursuit went into Washington County where police put down stop sticks. But the pursuit ended before the ambulance hit them near Voyles Road in Pekin.
Prest, was transported to the Clark County Jail where he is facing charges of criminal recklessness, auto theft and resisting law enforcement.
