(LINTON) - Greene County coroner George Ockerman has ruled 85-year-old Robert Waters, of Linton died of natural causes.
Ockerman said Waters had heart disease and suffered a heart attack while driving and died before his vehicle entered the water. Ockerman says there was no water in Waters' lung.
Waters had been the subject of a Silver Alert that was issued on Friday, December 15th. He was last seen in Linton around 3 p.m. on Thursday, driving a red 1997 Chevrolet Blazer. He had left his cell phone, glasses and medications at home.
Indiana Conservation officers recovered Waters body in Richards Lake Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday officers found evidence that Waters' vehicle entering the lake at 50 South and 1500 West in Linton.
Conservation officers utilized Side Scan Sonar and SCUBA divers to determine the location of the vehicle. The search ended at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday night and resumed early Tuesday morning.
Due to the rocky underwater high wall and the vehicle at a depth of 55 feet, the extraction was dangerous and technical in nature.
District 8 ICO's aided divers from Districts 5 and 7 by mobilizing their Remotely Operated Vehicle to pinpoint the location and report on the vehicle's stability on the rock wall. At approximately 3 p.m. a recovery was made.
The body of Mr. Waters was recovered by ICO divers.
