(BEDFORD) - The Super Oldies Jingle Bell Rock was found by Lionel and Julie Keith from Bedford at the Jeremy Keith Oakley Preserve.
Lionel described finding the rock, "It was kind of like, 'Is this actually it? Oh, look its got a number on it!' You just don't believe it."
The Super Oldies Jingle Bell Rock Contest had listeners searching for the Super Oldies Jingle Bell Rock within the 105.5 WQRK coverage area. Listeners were given daily clues on air, at sponsor locations and they were also given a Bonus clue. The bonus clue was only at three of the sponsor locations including Big O Tires in Bedford, McAlister's Deli in Bedford and May's Green House in Bloomington. The listener that found the rock first is awarded a sleigh full of prizes valued at $1,000.
This was the first year Julie Keith and her husband, Lionel, had participated in the contest. "I said, 'So what do you know about this Jingle Bell Rock?' And he said he didn't know much about it. So we started looking and thought it sounded like a lot fun," Julie said.
It took Julie and Lionel seven clues to find the location of the rock.
The couple was not the only ones on the right path. Julie and Lionel said after they found the rock, another listener had pulled into the Jeremy Keith Oakley Preserve to search.
"You know it was just a lot of fun to go out and look for it and see different places. And we found a lot of new places that we want to see."
They posted on Super Oldies Facebook page, "Thank you to all of you at the radio station we had so much fun this morning and thank you to all of the sponsors for the wonderful prizes, that we had a blast opening, superoldies "rocks"!!!"
