(BEDFORD) - A Bloomington man was arrested after he caused a disturbance at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital on Tuesday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers went to the Mark III Motel at 5:37 p.m. after receiving a 911 call with the caller hanging up.
When police arrived they found 56-year-old Kevin Blackwell and another man, who were both extremely intoxicated.
"Because of their level of intoxication they were both transported to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for a medical evaluation," Chief Parsley says.
Then around 7 p.m. officers were called to the hospital after a report of Blackwell being belligerent with hospital staff.
"When the officers arrive he was coming off the hospital bed," Chief Parsley says. "Officer had to place him back in the bed twice."
He continued to fight with officers and be loud.
"He was then escorted out of the hospital," Chief Parsley added. "On the way out, he continued to fight with the officers and had to be placed on the ground. While being handcuffed, Mr. Blackwell continued to fight punching one officer and kicking another in the ear, cutting his ear."
Blackwell was arrested on charges of battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication.
The injured officer was treated at the scene and returned to work.
