(DUBOIS CO.) - Dubois County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is holding a winter training class for new, potential volunteers.
The training will begin on Tuesday, February 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dubois County Community Foundation located at 600 McCrillus Street in Jasper. The training will last approximately eight weeks.
CASA volunteers are community members trained to represent children who are part of the court system due to abuse or neglect. More than 150 Dubois County children need a CASA each year. Currently, more than 18 Dubois County children are on a waitlist.
Those interested in becoming a volunteer should complete an online application found at duboiscountycasa.org no later than January 30.
For additional information about becoming a CASA volunteer, contact Director, Deena Hubler at 812-639-0143. Anyone interested can ask questions by phone or schedule time with the CASA Director or another volunteer to learn more about the role of a CASA.
