(BEDFORD) - An Ellettsville man was arrested on drug charges Wednesday night after Bedford police stopped his vehicle at 16th and H streets.
At 6:10 p.m. officers stopped 32-year-old Christopher Stevens after he committed a traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, a Bedford Police canine alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, a female passenger told police Stevens had asked her to hide a bottle containing an illegal substance on her person, but when she saw the police lights she threw the bottle down inside the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle police found a digital scale, the bottle which contained heroin, a baggy that contained a powdery substance that tested positive for meth and unused syringes.
Stevens was arrested on charges of dealing a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug, dealing meth, possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance.
The case remains under investigation.
