(BLOOMINGTON) - A Brazil man was arrested early Sunday morning after he threatened a woman with a knife in the 2400 block of South Winslow Court.
Bloomington Police arrested 29-year-old Larry Hopkins on felony charges of criminal confinement, domestic battery, strangulation and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Police were called to the residence at 1:10 a.m. after Hopkins allegedly hit the woman with his fist after being accused of stealing cigarettes and threatened her with a knife.. He then asked the n for forgiveness and asked her to kill him with the knife. The woman attempted to leave and Hopkins again hit her and threatened her with the knife.
The woman was able to escape and call police.
Hopkins was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, for a mental evaluation and was then arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail, where he is being held on a $15,500 bond.
