(BLOOMINGTON) - A Paragon man is in jail after a pursuit early Saturday early morning that began on South Walnut Street near South Drive.
According to Bloomington Police, an officer attempted to pull over a 2001 silver Volvo, driven by 25-year-old Jared Litton, for an equipment violation.
Litton refused to stop and fled south on South Walnut Street and turned into Lucky's parking lot. He then continued traveling behind the buildings and onto Country Club Drive. The pursuit continued down several side streets before crossing State Road 37, onto Dillman Road.
The car then died and Litton ran from the vehicle into the stone quarry, climbing over two barbed-wire fences. Officers followed while other officers set up a perimeter around the quarry.
Litton was arrested. Police found Litton had two small baggies in his wallet containing a white substance that tested positive for meth.
Litton is facing charges of two counts of resisting law enforcement, possession of meth and driving with a suspended driver's license. He is being held on a $4,500 cash bond.
