(BEDFORD) - A Paoli man was arrested after police received a call of a suspicious male at Hibbett Sports.
The caller told Bedford police officer they believed the male was in the store stealing items.
When police arrived at 8:45 p.m. they spoke to 36-year-old Nicholas Nolan, who police say was intoxicated.
"As officers were speaking with Mr. Nolan they asked if they could pat him down," Chief Dennis Parsley says. "They found a knife in his pocket. As the officer attempted to take the knife, Mr. Nolan became physical and attempted to grab the knife from the officer."
Nolan had to be physically restrained.
Police also found Nolan had buprenorphine hydrochloride, which is a opiate. He didn't have a prescription for the drug.
Nolan was arrested on charges of public intoxication, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force.
