(PAOLI) - Police are investigating the origin of two social media posts threatening harm to students at Paoli Schools.
On Thursday around 5 p.m., law enforcement officials in Orange County were made aware of a post on a social media account that threatened harm to the Paoli schools. The Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Office and Paoli Police Department immediately began to investigate the origin and validity of the of the threat.
Later in the evening a second post was made, appearing to be from the same site.
Although the posts appeared to come from outside the area and possibly outside the country, the Paoli School Corporation decided to cancel school on Friday for safety reasons.
Investigators ask parents to talk with their children to see if there is any additional information that might assist in the investigation.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Jasper State Police Post at 812-482-1441.
Callers can remain anonymous.
