(BEDFORD) - A Shoals woman was arrested on drug charges after being stopped by a Bedford Police officer for a traffic violation Saturday night.
Police arrested 26-year-old Kayla Garofola on charges of possession of meth, a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.
At 6:45 p.m., a Bedford Police Department officer pulled the vehicle Garofola was driving at 16th and M streets for no license plate.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, Garofola allowed officer to search the vehicle. Inside a coat pocket police found a cigarette package containing a plastic baggie that contained meth and a buprenorphine hydrochloride pill.
Garofola was arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail. She posted a $755 bond on Monday and was released from jail. An initial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12 at 8:30 a.m. in Lawrence County Superior Court II.
