(MARTIN CO.) - Martin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three people on meth and numerous other charges Sunday night and early Monday morning after a traffic stop.
On Sunday, around 9:44 p.m., Deputy Tyler Reed, of the Martin County Sheriff's Office, was conducting a narcotics investigation on the West side of Loogootee when he noticed a vehicle leave a suspect's residence.
The vehicle committed a moving violation and then continued toward Park Street where Martin County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Shinn was positioned. Deputy Shinn observed the vehicle commit another moving violation and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Rejan Allen of Loogootee, appeared to be intoxicated. Police determined that she had alcohol and a host of drugs in her system. Allen was transported to Daviess Community Hospital for a chemical test which showed her blood-alcohol level of 0.096 percent as well as the presence of benzodiazepines, oxycodone, amphetamines, and THC in her system.
Deputy Reed utilized his narcotics-certified K9 Virka for a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Virka gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search of her car police found marijuana and meth.
Allen was arrested and transported to the Martin County Jail.
Deputies then obtained a search warrant for Allen's home. The search warrant was executed by Deputy Shinn, ICO Tony Mann, LPD Sergeant Rick Norris, and Deputy Reed on Monday at 12:55 a.m. When police entered the home they found meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Police arrested 53-year-old Rodger Gist of Loogootee and 58-year-old Michael Gist of Washington, who were found inside the home.
After an extensive search officer found more than 12 grams of meth, and more than 35 grams of marijuana, indicators of dealing such as scales and pre-cut baggies, paraphernalia, several controlled substances and legend drugs, and controlled substances and legend drugs bagged and labeled.
Allen along with Rodger and Michael Gist are facing numerous charges including dealing in and possession of meth.
