(HAYDEN) - Two Seymour residents were arrested Saturday at a home near Hayden after a report of a man with a gun.
Police arrested 30-year-old Michael Shuffitt of Seymour on charges of possession of a firearm by a violent felon and dealing in a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of meth and visiting and maintaining a common nuisance. They also arrested 24-year-old Caitlin Rhodes, also of Seymour, on charges of dealing in a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of meth, possession of marijuana and visiting and maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted on a burglary warrant in Bartholomew County.
According to a Jennings County Police report, the two were arrested by police responding to the residence around 2 a.m. after receiving information that a man with a firearm - later identified as Shuffitt - was inside threatening residents and anyone who contacted police.
He was arrested without incident.
During their investigation police found meth, heroin, $1,200 in cash a firearm, syringes, scales and other drug paraphernalia.
Assisting in the incident was Officer Thomas Mellencamp, assisted by Officer Doug Brown, Reserve Sgt. Jason Litterell and reserve officers Kyle Lee and Christopher Gholson.
