(BEDFORD) - Two females were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday night at the intersection of Mitchell and Sandpit Road.
According to a Bedford Police report 44-year-old Mary Horton of Bedford was traveling east on Mitchell Road and had stopped in the left lane of traveling to make a left turn onto SandPit Road when a 2001 Ford Taurus collided into the rear of her 2013 GMC Terrain.
23-year-old Latessa Kesterson of Mitchell told police that she didn't see Horton's vehicle stopped until it was too late.
Horton told police she saw Kesterson's vehicle approaching and not slowing, so she attempted to accelerate to avoid the collision, but was unable to.

Kesterson, who is 7 months pregnant, complained of stomach pain and was transported by an AMR ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for a medical evaluation. Her 2-year-old passenger, who was in a child restraint seat in the back seat of the vehicle, was not injured during the incident.
