(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes says CLR has began work on Bridge 78 on Pumphouse Road near Rivervale.
"It will take 8 to 10 weeks to complete the job weather permitting," Holmes added.
The commissioners received three bids on the replacement for Bridge 67 on Lawrenceport Road. The now 96 foot bridge over Sugar Creek will be replaced with a 110 foot bridge at an estimated cost of half a million dollars. The lowest bid was awarded to Duncan Robinson Construction Inc.
Lawrence highway crews continue to cold patch roadways and cut brush.

Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer is watching a winter storm approaching the Lawrence County area.
"We are currently under a winter weather watch from 10 p.m. tonight until 10 p.m. Wednesday," she added. "We could get periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain which could cause travel difficulties. Residents need to be prepared for slippery roads and use caution while driving."
Total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected in portions of central, south central, southeast and southwest Indiana.

Luchauer reported work began today to replace the guide wire on the communication tower on Kings Ridge Road.
The commissioners signed a contract for All State Towers to replace the guide wires at the communication tower.
The tower, built in 1961, is 320-feet tall and has 36 guide wires securing it to the ground and the aging guide wires need to be replaced.

Luchauer presented the Oolitic Town County with the county's Hazard Mitigation plan which they passed. Luchauer says she will present the plan to the Bedford City Council at the end of this month.
A copy of the plan is available for public view in the auditor's office.

Luchauer has scheduled a National Weather Service Storm Spotter Training Sessions at Mitchell City Hall on March 7th at 6:30 p.m.
Those who attend the session will learn how to better identify certain severe storm features such as funnel clouds, wall clouds, tornadoes, and various other features that can be reported to the National Weather Service or Emergency Management Agencies to help provide better warnings for their communities.
The training sessions are free and no pre-registration is required.
