(BROWN CO.) - According to Brown County Coroner Earl Piper, 33-year-old Ashley Minael died from three gunshot wounds.
Minael was shot in the chest, head and face during a domestic fight at a home in the 3800 block of Peoga Road. He death has been ruled by the coroner's office as a homicide - but the coroner says that doesn't mean a crime was committed.
No one has been charged with her death.
When police arrived they found a 35-year-old man at the scene and Minatel's body in the front yard. There was also a 3-year-old child at the home.
"The male, who called police and reported the shooting was questioned and later released," Sheriff Scott Southerland says. "What we don't want to do is prematurely speculate or put out information until we gather all the facts and evidence. We don't want to guess. I know that a lot of people feel differently about this. ... the police are to be neutral...we are gathering evidence and will learn the facts."
Sheriff Scott Southerland says the incident remains under investigation and once the investigation is completed the findings will be turned over to the prosecutor, who will decide if charges will be filed.
