(BEDFORD) - A couple was arrested after a domestic fight Tuesday morning on Fairview Mundell Road.
Officers responded to the area at 10:52 a.m. after a report of a domestic fight.
According to Lawrence County Police Department Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, when police arrived they spoke to 26-year-old Tonya Feathers.
Feathers told police that she and 38-year-old Jason Kinder, are in a relationship and the two had left their home for an appointment when they got into a verbal argument inside the vehicle.
"That led to a struggle over control of a cell phone and both Kinder and Feathers reported being hit by the other on the face," Chief Deputy Shoults added. "At some point after this, Kinder threw the cell phone out the window of the vehicle hitting a passing car with it."
Police say the phone landed in the road.
"Kinder stopped to get it and Feathers drove off, turned around and came back up Fairview Mundell Road where Kinder was standing in the roadway and Kinder was struck by the vehicle as Feathers passed by him."
Kinder suffered a small cut on his right foot, knee and elbow. He also had a small cut on his right palm.
Feathers returned to her residence, removed the child from the vehicle and called police.
Kinder returned to the residence and got the vehicle and drove to the end of the driveway.
As a result of the investigation both Kinder and Feathers were arrested and transported to jail. The Department of Child Services was alerted.
Feathers is facing charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor, domestic battery, criminal recklessness, driving while driver's license suspended.
