(UNDATED) - Flood warnings remain in effect along the area’s rivers.
They are expected to rise and crest at 6 to 8 feet above flood stage at various locations.
The East Fork of White River in Bedford was at 25.3 feet at 8 a.m., flood stage is 20 feet. The East Fork of White River in Williams was at 10.9 feet at 7:10 a.m. flood state is 8 feet.
The White River at Edwardsport was around 21 feet according to the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Prediction Service. Flood stage is 16 feet. The river is expected to rise to 25.2 by Thursday morning and then start to fall.
The Wabash River at Vincennes was at 18.2 feet and rising. It's expected to crest early Saturday at 26.1 feet.
The East Fork of White River at Shoals is more than two feet above flood stage at 22.3 and will rise to 26 feet for a crest on Friday morning.
Police say that 6 inches of flowing water is enough to knock an adult off their feet; 12 inches of flowing water is enough to carry away a car and 24 inches of flowing water is enough to carry away all other vehicles (truck, trailer, van or otherwise). Police are telling motorists to turn around, don't drown.
