(MARTINSVILLE) - The Martinsville Police Department is investigating the death of a toddler.
Officers say they began investigating the death of 18-month-old Ariella Foster on Thursday, Feb. 1.
Morgan County Coroner Annette Butcher says Foster was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Butcher says Foster's cause of death remains under investigation.
At one point, Foster had been in the care of relatives who stepped in to keep her out of foster care.
Police say at least four people were inside the second-floor apartment on East Highland Street Thursday night when police were called for an unresponsive child. A second child was also in the home at the time of the incident.
Police say they are waiting for toxicology results and cause of death to be determined before they take the case to the prosecutor.
No charges have been filed at this time.
