(SEYMOUR) - A semi driver was killed in a crash on southbound I-65 Sunday morning.
At around 1:30 a.m., Indiana State Police arrived to find a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames at mile marker 53 near Seymour.
Police said the driver, 54-year-old John Gaskin of Michigan, died after he hit the back of the semi driven by 33-year-old Abdulahi Afrah.
The investigation has determined that Afrah's vehicle may not have had working tail lights, which was a contributing factor in the crash.
Northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate were closed for multiple hours, but have since reopened.
Bagged charcoal in Afrah's semi was released from the trailer during the crash. The load in Gaskin's trailer was a total loss.
Toxicology results on Afrah are pending at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
