(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham says there is no possible threat at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
A text alert was sent out early Thursday morning to families of middle school students in the North Lawrence Community Schools system regarding a social media posting on Wednesday night.
And there were threats made also at Shawswick School, Thursday at 9:35 a.m. Then at BNL High School at 5:02 p.m.
"We have investigated all of these threats," Sheriff Branham added. "There is no threat to any students in the North Lawrence Community Schools."
Bedford Police determined the middle school threat pertained to a situation in another state, but generated confusion locally.
A similar situation happened to at a Salem School.
The text alert further reads, "Law enforcement personnel indicated that someone may have copied a post from another state, and once the post was activated, information may have become misconstrued. ... We, along with our friends associated with the Lawrence County Police Department, the Bedford Police Department and the Indiana State Police, want to reassure you that we are working together to ensure the safety our young people.
Sheriff Branham wants parents to rest assured that officers are taking every measure to assure their children's safety.
"These threats are happening across the state," he added. "Law enforcement and school officials are doing everything possible to investigate the threats."
