(BLOOMINGTON) - A Springville man was arrested after police say he set the fire on June 24 that destroyed Bonds and McPike Flooring.
Bloomington Police arrested 51-year-old Danny Corlette at 8:48 p.m. on Wednesday on charges of arson and burglary. He is being held at Monroe County Jail on a $10,500 bond.
When the Bloomington Fire Department arrived at the business in the 2900 block of West Third Street in flames were shooting through the roof and firefighters went on a defensive attack.
Ellettsville Fire Department responded to the scene with their aerial truck along with firefighters from Perry Clear Creek and Van Buren Fire Department. Heavy equipment was called in to knock down the last remaining walls as the last remnants went up in smoke.
Investigators suspected arson. Police worked with the Bloomington Fire Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office and insurance office investigators.
The business owned by Brad and Stephanie Bounds had been in the family for more than 30 years. The store has since relocated to 5005 N. Business Ind. 37.
