(SCOTTSBURG) - Two from Salem were arrested over the weekend on drug charges.
Police arrested 25-year-old Devin Coomer and 20-year-old MaKallie Quick after they fled a Scott County hospital and led police on a short foot chase.
At approximately 4 p.m., Saturday, troopers Tyler Matthew and Kyle Taylor went to the Campbell's Motel in Scottsburg in reference to a possible stolen vehicle being in the parking lot of the motel.
They were looking for Coomer who had an active arrest warrant for his arrest.
The vehicle turned out not to be stolen but, when the troopers attempted to make contact with Coomer in his motel room, he and his girlfriend MaKallie Quick fled the motel room out a back window.
After a short foot pursuit both were captured by police.
Police searched the motel room and found a syringe and a spoon with burnt heroin on it.
Coomer and Quick are facing charges of unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of cocaine or a Schedule 1 or 2 narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. Coomer was also wanted on an out of county arrest warrant.
Both subjects were incarcerated at the Scott County Jail.
