(LOOGOOTEE) - Two students were arrested after making threats at Loogootee High School on Friday.
According to Superintendent Chip Mehaffey, the administration of the school received information from a staff member about a potential threat made by a student. The threat was not directed at any staff member or student. The student was detained and police were notified. The student was then taken into custody.
During the investigation, a second threat was made by another student. That student was also detained and also taken into custody.
While a legitimate threat was never substantiated by any evidence, Loogootee Community Schools administration and law enforcement officials decided to take the precaution of dismissing students early so a thorough search of the buildings could be conducted, Mehaffey said in the news release.
The search found no credible threat.
The school corporation, police and representatives from the prosecutor's office will hold a Community School Safety Forum at 6 p.m. Monday at Loogootee High School auditorium.
