(BLOOMFIELD) - William Levi Abel was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the murder of 21-year-old Chase Aliano.
Greene Circuit Judge Erik Allen handed down a sentence Thursday morning.
Abel was sentenced to 60 years for the murder, two years for the theft of a firearm, two years for obstruction of justice and an additional sentence enhancement of 16 years for the use of a fire.
Abel will receive credit for 404 days of time served.
Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw explained Abel will have to serve at least 75 percent of the murder sentence and additional enhancement and at least 50 percent of his time on the additional felony counts for a minimum sentence of 59 years.
Able's Public Defender James Riester says he will appeal the sentence.
A Greene County Circuit Court jury deliberated for about three hours last month returning a guilty verdict in the murder trial of 25-year-old Abel. The jury also found him guilty of obstruction of justice and theft of a firearm.
Abel shot and killed Aliano, covering up the crime by hiding Aliano's vehicle, burning his own and Aliano's clothes and burying Aliano's body.
The investigation started on February 3, 2017 when Steve Aliano, Chase's father, reported his son missing to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department. Chase had last been seen on January 31, 2016 at Abel's farm in Bloomfield. His family says Chase was there to sell Abel a firearm.
