Bloomfield First Grader Named Honorary Firefighter After Brave Act

(BLOOMFIELD) - Bloomfield first-grader Ava Montoya was honored during the Bloomfield School Board meeting on Monday for her heroic actions.

The Greene County Daily World reports, Montoya was at her home on Feb. 10 when she noticed a lampshade and the window drape on fire.

Montoya acted quickly and woke her mother and the rest of the family. The family was able to get the fire put out quickly before it spread.

Montoya was given the honorary Junior Firefighter Award from Bloomfield Fire Department.
