(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police confiscated three fake $50 bills on Saturday.
This is after police say $100 surfaced earlier in the month.
Two of the fake $50 bills were used at the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market on West Third Street.
Employees accepted one of the bills and found the other was counterfeit using a detection marker.
The man who paid with the bills was described as 6 feet tall with a thin build, white and in his late 20s.
A third fake $50 was found at the Starbucks on North Jacob Drive when employees noticed the bill looked different.
On March 7th a counterfeit $100 was found at the Burger King on West Third Street. Police say a man attempted to pay with the counterfeit bill but the employee who received the bill told police it just didn't feel right.
The man who tried to use the bill left before police arrived. The man was described as around 6 feet tall and was wearing blue jeans, a red jacket and gray hat.
Bloomington Police Department Capt. Steve Kellams says two more fake $100 bills were used at Starbucks, and another one was used at Subway.
Capt. Kellams says the incidents are likely connected.
