(ORLEANS) - Dogwood Century has proven to be the most challenging century bicycle tour in Indiana.
The ride begins and ends downtown Orleans near the gazebo on the famous Congress Square.
"Our beautiful southern Indiana ride is growing in popularity as last year we had many out of state participants," says
Robert F. Henderson, Jr., Orleans Clerk-Treasurer. "Can you conquer all the hills early spring and earn bragging rights? If you are not ready for the full 100 mile tour, other options include the 25, 50, or 75 mile routes and see what you are made of! This is a premiere springtime event with the Hoosier Hospitality signature stamped on it!"
The ride is on April 21st. The ride starts in downtown Orleans, at the gazebo and takes cyclists through the best back roads Southern Indiana has to offer.
This ride is not for the faint of heart as only the strong will survive. Challenging hills include the likes of "Mt. Aire" and "Dead Horse Hill" plus many more surprises along the way including the Guthrie Mansion in Lawrence County's Tunnelton and the Gus Grissom Memorial in Spring Mill State Park just to name a few. Orange County sights include the beautiful West Baden Dome & Pete Dye Gulf Course area and French Lick Resort & Casino.
Included in registration is a delicious post-ride meal for every rider and world class S.A.G. support, meaning many food and drink stops along the way.
Plus if cyclists need help or to be picked up, help is only a phone call away and many committee members will be driving the route. Participants doing the full Century have the option of having lunch midway or at the end.
This ride is being held in conjunction with the upcoming 50th Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Pre-register online and then sign in from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the gazebo the day of ride.
Century riders need to be on the course by 8 a.m.
Those that pre-register we receive a wick-away shirt with a special design.
