(PATOKA) - Celebrate spring with special Earth Day activities at the Patoka Lake Nature Center, April 22.
Activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Children can join Arts in the Parks program artist Anabel Hopkins for a workshop that involves creating "critters" and other images out of collected natural objects, such as dead leaves, twigs, grasses, nuts and more. Objects will be glued onto paper to take home.
The day also includes a seed and plant exchange. Bring your unwanted or excess garden and plant seeds, tree seedlings, flowering plants and bulbs to exchange for something new. Are irises and other plants crowding your flower beds or invading locations around your home? Dig them up and bring them in to exchange for a new variety. Volunteers will provide native plants for visitors to take home.
The admission fee to Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area on Patoka Lake is $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
