(PATOKA) - Try kayaking before investing in a boat at a beginners kayaking lesson at Patoka Lake on Saturday, April 21.
Participants will meet the Patoka Lake interpretive naturalist at the beach at 1 p.m. Participants can try several styles of kayaks and paddles, learn about necessary gear, and hear about the best places for paddling on Patoka.
All equipment including life jackets will be provided. The event is open to anyone ages 12 and older. The cost is $5 per person. Space is limited to the first 50 people who register.

Entrance to Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area on Patoka Lake costs $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
